Who This Training Is For
This program is intended for doctorate-level and master-level psychologists, LMFTs, LMHCs, LPCs, LISWs, LMSWs and other master-level mental health practitioners who have successfully completed an EMDR Basic Training.
This course builds on the standard protocol learned in EMDR Basic Training and revisits its structure, phases and interventions while adapting language and technique for Spanish-speaking clients. The principles also strengthen EMDR work with other richly contextual cultures. If you have not yet completed Basic Training, start with EMDR Basic Training.
Course Overview
The Art & Heart of EMDR: Beyond the Basics Reboot, Applying the Model with Cultural Confidence, is an EMDR reboot and refresher for clinicians who want to revisit the model's foundations and expand their ability to work effectively across cultures, particularly with Spanish-speaking clients. Roxanna Carcamo and Kenya Rocha blend review, skill-building and cultural application, reconnecting you with the heart of EMDR while refining your technical precision.
The course revisits EMDR's structure, phases and interventions and explores how historical and cultural perspectives shape behavior, relationships and connection. Special focus goes to adapting language and technique to honor deeply rooted cultural values, navigating verbal and nonverbal nuance, and addressing clinical challenges with cultural sensitivity and flexibility.
While the emphasis is on strategies for Spanish-speaking clients, the principles and interventions taught strengthen EMDR work with other richly contextual cultures.
The course is built to help you apply EMDR with cultural sensitivity and precision so clients feel deeply seen and understood, adapt terminology and interventions to align with cultural meaning while preserving fidelity to the model, and recognize how cultural history influences client presentation and the therapeutic process.
