Since assuming directorship of EMDR & Beyond in July 2024 and Ownership in November of 2024, Kenya Rocha, MS, LMHC, NCC, has led the organization into its next chapter of growth. Her vision is to expand access to high-quality, evidence-informed education that strengthens clinical practice and supports mental health professionals throughout their careers.
Kenya believes that clinical competence develops through continuous learning, thoughtful integration, and opportunities to apply knowledge in practice. Under her leadership, the EMDR & Beyond Training Centre provides specialized education in EMDR therapy, trauma-informed care, psychotherapy, and related mental health topics for both EMDR-trained and non-EMDR clinicians.
Our programs are delivered by experienced EMDR trainers, authors, consultants, and clinicians. Through comprehensive and clinically relevant education, we help participants expand their professional knowledge, strengthen their clinical skills, deepen their ethical awareness, and increase their competence in serving diverse client populations. Our goal is to support clinicians in responsibly integrating current research, theory, and best practices into effective client care.
Our EMDR training remains grounded in the principles established by Dr. Francine Shapiro and maintains fidelity to her evidence-based model. Training events address all eight phases of EMDR therapy within the Adaptive Information Processing framework. We also explore how EMDR can be thoughtfully integrated with other therapeutic models, approaches, and clinical applications to broaden its relevance and utility in practice.
Established in 2015 by Bonnie Mikelson, LISW, EMDR & Beyond was created to address the needs of survivors of adverse experiences and the professionals who support their recovery. Today, we carry that purpose forward through Kenya’s leadership, a growing range of educational opportunities, and an ongoing commitment to accessible, responsible, and clinically meaningful professional development.
