Founded in 2015 by Bonnie Mikelson, LISW, EMDR & Beyond is dedicated to addressing the needs of survivors of adverse experiences and supporting the professionals who aid their recovery. Our Training Centre offers specialized EMDR and trauma training and education, delivered by expert EMDR trainers, authors, consultants, and clinicians. Our educational programs equip therapists to effectively treat a broad spectrum of mental health issues arising from challenging life experiences.
Our commitment is rooted in teaching the core principles of EMDR as established by Dr. Francine Shapiro, ensuring fidelity to her evidence-based model. Our EMDR training events cover the 8 phases of the AIP framework. We also integrate EMDR into various therapeutic models, approaches, concepts and applications, broadening its scope and utility in clinical practice.
In July 2024, Kenya Rocha, MS, LMHC, NCC assumed ownership and directorship of EMDR & Beyond. Kenya is passionate about continuing the mission of enhancing clinical skill development through comprehensive education. She believes in the importance of continuous learning, with an understanding that skill development evolves over time and varies according to the ongoing educational needs of clinicians.
Under Kenya’s leadership, EMDR & Beyond’s goal is to provide high-quality, evidence-informed continuing education for psychologists, clinicians, and mental health professionals at all stages of their careers. The Training Centre aims to increase access to professional development in EMDR therapy, trauma-informed care, psychotherapy, and related mental health topics for both EMDR and non-EMDR clinicians.
Through its educational programming, EMDR & Beyond seeks to enhance participants’ professional knowledge, clinical skills, ethical awareness, and competence in serving diverse client populations. Our goal is to support clinicians in integrating current research, theory, and best practices into effective and responsible clinical care.
