Preamble

At EMDR & Beyond, we are committed to creating a learning environment that is transparent, supportive, inclusive and grounded in professional integrity. These program disclosures are provided to give you clear guidance about your participation, so you know what to expect and how to make the most of your continuing education experience.

Our purpose in sharing this information is to:

  • Ensure that participants, staff, and partners share a common understanding of how our programs operate, and to clarify the responsibilities and processes that support your successful completion.
  • Provide reassurance about the safety, integrity, and research basis of the content.
  • Uphold our commitments to ethical practice, accessibility, and professional standards.

These disclosures are not meant to overwhelm. They are meant to help you understand requirements, policies and procedures clearly and focus on the most important part: your learning and professional growth.

We encourage you to review these details carefully and reach out with any questions. Our team is here to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident as you engage in this program.

Program Administrator

Kenya Rocha, MS, LMHC, NCC serves as the CE Program Administrator for EMDR & Beyond and is responsible for ensuring that EMDR & Beyond’s continuing education programs are administered in accordance with all applicable standards, including EMDRIA & APA Standards and Criteria, organizational policies, and program requirements.

Content Basis and Safety

The instructional material provided in our CE programs is grounded in peer-reviewed research and established psychological principles. It is designed to build upon the knowledge and skills acquired in completed doctoral- and master-level programs in psychology, counseling, and clinical social work.

There are no known risks or potentially harmful practices associated with the content as presented. Any limitations in effectiveness are generally related to the improper application of the material or deviation from recommended procedures. Instructors will clarify the empirical foundation of the content and discuss appropriate use to ensure safe and ethical implementation.

If you are under supervision, you should always follow your supervisor's guidance when applying new information in the therapy room. During consultations, we take no responsibility for the wellbeing of your clients.

All program content is directly relevant to psychological practice, education, assessment, or scientific research. To present this material without bias, we continuously evaluate our offerings to align with current professional standards and the needs of the field. There is no commercial support for this continuing education program, and neither the sponsor nor the instructor(s) have any known financial relationships or other potential conflicts of interest to disclose.

When EMDR & Beyond offers a program in collaboration with another organization, EMDR & Beyond retains responsibility for ensuring that the CE program complies with APA Standards and Criteria, including program content, instructor qualifications, disclosures, evaluations, attendance verification, and issuance of CE credit.

Accreditation Statements

EMDR & Beyond is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. EMDR & Beyond maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
EMDR & Beyond is an EMDRIA-approved EC Provider (#15007). This program (#15007-PROGRAM#) is approved for X EMDRIA Credits. Eligibility for EMDRIA credits is limited to participants who have completed an EMDRIA-approved Basic EMDR Training.

Attendance and Credit Requirements

To receive CE or EMDRIA credit for in-person presentations or live virtual attendance, participants must attend the entire program in real time. Partial credit is not available, and watching a recording in place of attending live does not qualify for credit. You must click through each lesson in your account for it to register as being completed, indicating you have seen or downloaded all materials. The lessons include the disclosures, course materials, abstract, agenda, and CE instructions. After completing the program, mark each page complete; a green checkmark will appear next to the lesson name in your list. Upon completion of all lessons, your CE certificate is issued automatically. If you do not receive it as expected, check your spam folder and send an email to info@emdrandbeyond.com. Live attendance is also taken during the program and monitored by the program administrator and missing part of the presentation disqualifies you for a certificate.

If you purchase the On-Demand version, you will click through the lessons as you complete the material and be prompted to take the quiz to receive your certificate.

To receive CE or EMDRIA credit for the On-Demand version (typically available 30 to 90 days after the live event), participants must complete the full curriculum and pass a post-quiz with a score of at least 75%. You must complete any On-Demand programs within one year to be eligible for credit, but you will retain access to the program after that time as indicated in our policy.

Course Evaluation

We are required to collect evaluation data for our accreditation. Submitting the evaluation is not required for you to receive CE credit; the system automatically releases your certificate after you pass the quiz. If you prefer not to complete the evaluation, you can email Kenya Rocha at info@emdrandbeyond.com to request that your certificate be sent manually. This process can take up to two weeks.

If you do not provide your credentials at registration, your access to your CE certificate may be delayed. We are required to keep this information and must have it on file to issue your completion or CE certificate. You may submit your credentials in your account, through the form link, or by emailing us.

Use of Recordings

Live programs are generally recorded to create the On-Demand version of the course and related supplemental materials. Participant questions, comments, and other live participation may result in the recording of your voice and, in some instances, your likeness. Although we make reasonable efforts to avoid including attendee video, and to obscure the identity of any participants who may appear on the recording, and our platform settings are intended to minimize display of attendee likeness, incidental capture may still occur. By registering for and attending the live program, you acknowledge and consent to such recording and to the use, reproduction, and inclusion of your voice and likeness, if captured, in these materials, in perpetuity, without compensation. (Iowa Code §§ 808B.1, 808B.2, 808B.8.)

Participants who do not wish their name, voice, image, or comments to appear in a recording should keep their camera off after attendance has been registered, use the chat or Q&A function when appropriate, attendance requirements do not mandate that the camera must stay on, and contact EMDR & Beyond before or during the program to discuss available options.

Course Access

Participants who purchase and attend the Live program have 90 days to access the original recording, after which it is removed from account access. Please access the materials and download any handouts before the 90-day expiration. After that point, you may purchase additional access through the On-Demand version of the course.

Beginning in 2025, if you purchase an On-Demand version of a course, you have unlimited access to that course as long as you keep your account with EMDR & Beyond and the product remains in our inventory. Products do occasionally retire. If you have not viewed the product before it retires, we have no way of reinstating it. Although the product may stay in your account after retirement, as is our intent, it will no longer offer CE credit. This does not always happen, but it can, depending on the provider of the material, industry standards, and programmatic considerations.

After four to five years, due to APA standards and EMDRIA requirements, the product may or may not continue to offer CE credit. It is important that you complete the product and download your CE certificate promptly. If you do not complete the course and download your certificate within one year of purchase, we can only verify the purchase. It is your responsibility to maintain records of your CE certificates.

ADA Compliance

EMDR & Beyond is committed to providing continuing education programs that are accessible to participants with apparent and non-apparent disabilities, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants may request reasonable accommodations by contacting EMDR & Beyond as early as possible, preferably at least two weeks before the program. Accommodation requests are reviewed through an individualized process based on the participant’s access needs, the program format, available technology or facility options, and the reasonableness of the requested accommodation.

EMDR & Beyond reviews accessibility considerations for each program format offered, including live in-person, live remote, on-demand/home study, and hybrid programs. For in-person programs, EMDR & Beyond considers facility access, room setup, seating, restroom access, parking or drop-off access when available, visibility, sound, and the ability to modify the learning environment. For live remote and on-demand programs, EMDR & Beyond considers access to the learning platform, virtual platform features, course materials, assessments, certificates, and participant-support needs. For hybrid programs, both the physical and virtual components are reviewed.

When a requested accommodation cannot be provided exactly as requested, EMDR & Beyond will work with the participant to identify an effective alternative when possible. Accommodation requests are handled confidentially and shared only with individuals who need the information to support program access.

Conflict of Interest Policy

EMDR & Beyond is committed to transparency regarding any actual or potential conflicts of interest related to its continuing education programs. Although most programs offered by EMDR & Beyond have no known conflicts of interest or commercial support, all programs will be reviewed for potential conflicts prior to approval and delivery.

As part of the program review process, presenters, instructors, content developers, advisory committee members, and other individuals involved in program planning or delivery will be asked to disclose any financial, professional, commercial, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the content of the program. This may include, but is not limited to, commercial sponsorship, paid consulting relationships, ownership interests, royalties, product sales, book sales, paid speaking relationships, or other financial relationships connected to the instructional content.

When a conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest is identified, EMDR & Beyond will review the nature of the relationship and determine how the conflict will be managed. Management strategies may include disclosure to participants, recusal from program review or approval, independent review by a qualified doctoral-level psychologist, revision of program content, or other steps necessary to protect the integrity of the educational program.

Participants will be informed of any identified conflicts of interest or commercial support prior to or at the beginning of the program. Disclosures may be included in registration materials, course descriptions, the learning platform, introductory slides, handouts, and/or verbal announcements at the start of the program. If there is no known conflict of interest or commercial support, participants will also be informed through a statement such as: “There is no known conflict of interest or commercial support for this program.”

This process ensures that participants receive clear and timely information about any relationships that could reasonably be construed as a conflict of interest and that EMDR & Beyond maintains appropriate oversight of program content, presenter roles, and educational integrity.

Technology

We are not responsible for issues with technology beyond our control. Please keep in mind that systems are not infallible, and you must take responsibility for maintaining your own records, CE certificates, passwords, and access to your materials. If you have difficulty with any aspect of our platform or website, please let us know and we will do our best to help you resolve it. Please note that we cannot reissue CE certificates more than one year from the date of purchase. Generally live virtual portions of programming take place on ZOOM platform. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure their Zoom application is up to date to the most current version and that camera and audio are working properly on their own equipment from their location.

Confidentiality, Privacy, and Security of Program Materials & Information

EMDR & Beyond takes reasonable steps to protect participant privacy, course materials, quizzes, evaluations, proprietary instructional materials, and confidential information shared in connection with CE programs. Course materials, recordings, quizzes, and related instructional resources are provided for registered participants’ educational use only and may not be copied, distributed, posted, reproduced, or shared without written permission.

Participants are expected to maintain the confidentiality of any case examples, consultation material, or personal/professional information shared by instructors or other participants during live or virtual programs. Instructors are expected to remove or disguise identifying information when using clinical examples and to present case material in a manner consistent with ethical and professional standards.

Participants are expected to engage respectfully, maintain confidentiality, avoid sharing unnecessary identifying client information, and participate in a manner consistent with professional and ethical standards. EMDR & Beyond reserves the right to address disruptive, discriminatory, or unethical conduct in order to maintain a safe and professional learning environment.

Access to participant records, quiz results, certificates, and registration information is limited to authorized personnel who need the information for administrative, accreditation, recordkeeping, or participant-support purposes.

Participant registration information, attendance records, quiz results, evaluations, certificates, and complaint records are maintained for accreditation, administrative, and recordkeeping purposes in accordance with applicable standards and EMDR & Beyond’s record retention procedures. However, if you have purchased an OD program and not accessed it within 1 year of purchase, we do not guarantee that the program will continue to offer the CE certificates. You must complete your program within 1 year to receive credit.

Use of Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only for limited administrative, editorial, formatting, and research-support functions, including organizing information, identifying potential resources for human review, proofreading, grammar review, and drafting assistance. AI is used as a support tool only; it gathers and organizes information from existing sources and is subject to limitations, including the potential for error, omission, bias, or misinterpretation.

We have established clear boundaries governing AI use in our course development process. Artificial intelligence is not used to originate, determine, or generate substantive course content, clinical opinions, educational analysis, practice recommendations, or learning objectives. All final content is developed, reviewed, and approved by qualified human professionals. AI may assist the process, but it does not replace authorship, expertise, or professional responsibility.

Cancellations and Refunds

Refunds for cancellations of live events will be issued when requested 10 or more days before the event, less a $25 processing fee. Cancellations within 10 days of the event are non-refundable. For On-Demand products, refunds are available up to five days after purchase if the product has not been accessed, less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after that point.

Participant Complaints and Grievance Procedure

EMDR & Beyond is committed to addressing participant concerns, complaints, and grievances in a reasonable, ethical, respectful, and timely manner. Participants who have a complaint regarding a continuing education program, instructor, instructional content, accessibility, technology, credit issuance, or any other aspect of the learning experience may submit the complaint in writing to:

Kenya Rocha, MS, LMHC, NCC
CE Program Administrator

Complaints will be acknowledged within five business days whenever possible. The CE Program Administrator, or an appropriate designee, will review the concern, gather relevant information, consult with involved parties as needed, and determine an appropriate response. EMDR & Beyond will make reasonable efforts to resolve complaints within 30 days of receipt. If additional time is needed, the participant will be informed of the status of the review and the anticipated timeframe for resolution.

Possible resolutions may include clarification of policies, technical assistance, correction of administrative errors, referral to appropriate resources, replacement or reissuance of documentation when warranted, refund review under the stated cancellation and refund policy, or other reasonable corrective action. Complaints and their resolution will be documented and maintained in accordance with EMDR & Beyond’s recordkeeping procedures.
