Generally, dissociation can develop when an event or experience is too overpowering at the time of the event for the experience to be fully integrated (Van der Hart et al., 2006).

Through lecture, video examples, and case examples, clinicians will gain a basic understanding of the theory of structural dissociation. Participants will increase their awareness of how and why parts of self are created. Participants will learn how to integrate Structural Dissociation interventions into their EMDR practice using the AIP model. Clinicians will expand their understanding of assessment in Phase 2 using the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES).  Lastly, clinicians will learn different ways to utilize titration interventions, and resourcing techniques when the client may become overwhelmed.

This workshop is open to all EMDR clinicians who have completed EMDR Basic Training.
